May 16: A Poem: One of Those Days
Today was just one of those days.
One of those days when you seem to
wake up angry or
on the wrong side of the bed,
and so did everyone else.
One of those days that start with
naughtiness in the kitchen
and scrambled eggs with sugar
for an unwanted breakfast.
One of those days where there is
more yelling then listening and
more hitting then talking and
more disobedience then peace.
One of those days where it was painful
to make it to the day's activity that was
supposed to be fun but instead
ended up being stressful for all.
One of those days that it was so very nice
to have a friend in the chaos to
help shoulder the burden of ornery children
running crazily amuck.
One of those days where I was exhausted
by noon and wanted to do
nothing
for the rest of the day except
sit on the couch and nap into the night.
Today was just one of those days.
Is it over yet?
